What size of unit should I choose?

The ideal size depends on the volume, type and quantity of items to store. For a first estimate, you can use this simple rule:

  • Divide the surface area of your home by 10.
  • Add 2 m2 for each additional space you want to store (garage, cellar, garden furniture, etc.).

Examples:

  • A 50 m2 flat with a cellar: 50 / 10 = 5 m2 + 2 m2 = a unit of about 7 m2.
  • A 100 m2 house with a garage and garden furniture: 100 / 10 = 10 m2 + 2 m2 + 2 m2 = a unit of about 14 m2.

Many people overestimate their needs: assessing the size properly helps avoid paying for more than you need. To help you, HOMEBOX provides an online volume estimator.
