Do I have to take out HOMEBOX insurance, or can I use my own insurance?

Insurance is mandatory for the entire duration of your HOMEBOX rental. You have two options:

  • Take out the insurance offered by HOMEBOX when signing the contract.
  • Use your own insurance, provided that certain conditions are met.

Your personal insurance must cover self-storage risks such as theft, fire, and water damage. You must provide a valid insurance certificate at the time of signing and renew it every year.

France, Switzerland, and Spain:

The certificate must include a waiver of recourse clause that complies with our requirements. If necessary, you may ask your insurer to contact HOMEBOX to validate the wording. If no valid and compliant certificate is provided, HOMEBOX insurance will be applied automatically.

Germany:

The certificate must cover the full value of your stored belongings and must be provided no later than the contract signing, in accordance with the German terms and conditions. If no valid proof is provided, the landlord may automatically charge its own insurance. An annual update of the certificate is required. If no valid and compliant certificate is submitted, HOMEBOX insurance will be applied automatically.
