Do I have to take out insurance?
Yes. Throughout the entire duration of your HOMEBOX contract, your stored belongings must be insured against the main risks (fire, theft, water damage, natural disasters, etc.).
You have two options:
- take out the insurance offered by HOMEBOX,
- or use your own insurance, as long as it specifically covers self-storage. In that case, you must provide an insurance certificate when signing the contract and prove that it remains valid for the entire rental period.
France, Switzerland, and Spain: The certificate must include a mutual waiver of recourse clause between you, HOMEBOX, and your respective insurers.
Germany: The certificate must cover the full value of the stored belongings.
If you do not provide valid insurance, HOMEBOX may apply its own insurance, or as a last resort, refuse or terminate the contract.
